greetings friends. today's post shall be about the nutmeg. no, we are not discussing the nutmeg, a species of plant, but about the football skill, aka, the panna. as u all know, i have been diligently practicing this skill which involves putting the ball through an opponent's legs as a form of dribbling past him in the popular game of football. it can also be done whilst passing or shooting. in Singapore, many people say "ole!" when successfully completing a nutmeg. this has led many disillusioned players to believe that to nutmeg someone, is to "ole" him. i am here to state that this is not the case. "ole!" is simply said as a form of self celebration in completing the skill as it is believed to be the most embarrassing thing to be nutmegged by someone in a game of football. thus many players, particularly amateurs will frequently try the nutmeg to prove their own skill or to embarrass others. thus from now on, i beseech fellow players to not say "let's have an oleing contest" but instead say "let's have a nutmeg contest." thank you.
fun fact: the dutch street footballing scene is regarded by many to be the best in the world at this skill as they frequently hold nutmeg contests to see who can out-panna each other.
